Question for gay guys in college: What is your dating life like in college? Where do you go to meet guys?
Do you meet a lot of other gay guys?
Is it hard to meet gay guys in college?
|
Haha I have no dating life, mostly because I don't make an effort to meet any guys. I go to UT in Austin and there is suppose to be a large gay community here, which is mostly true. Austin is a liberal city in a conservative state and gay people from all over Texas gather at this spot, but it's not why I'm here, Texas is just an awesome school and I bleed burnt orange.
Even though I don't go out of my way to meet guys in bars or gay organizations, I do notice gay guys everywhere I go. Some are obviously out and open, while some not so much. I usually scan around my classes like I'm looking for another friend and do catch some questionable glances every once in a while. Sometimes, I brush it off to avoid any possible and sometimes I smile or give a nod.
I'd say it shouldn't be very hard to meet gay guys no matter where you are. Unless you're at Texas A&M, then you're screwed because that place is the epitome of straight white southern conservative gatherings. Most places have average numbers of gay people which is roughly 2-3%, not too high, but high enough to give you plenty of opportunities. It all depends on how determined you are to find someone. If you just want to cruise by like me and hope that you'll bump into someone 1 day, then that's great, but if you really want to just get with someone now, then there are always internet dating sites, bars, and school organizations. Good luck |
Is it easy to meet gAy guys in college? I'm a senior in high school right now and I know I'm bi but I have never done anything sexual with another guy and I'm still in the closet. I don't plan on telling anyone I'm bi for a long time. So is it easier to meet other gay or bi guys in college? Like are guys willing to experiment? |

Where can a college guy find other gay guys in the DC area without having to go clubbing? I really want to find someone to date, but clubbing isn't my scene neither is the whole online dating. Is there another place i could find other gay guys? |
| Try joining a local LBGT group - you will meet many like minded people there P&P :-) |
Why don't gay college guys come out of the closet? Ok, so I have noticed this, many college guys are in the closet. What is the big deal with saying 3 words "I am gay". It's like they think it is the most horrible thing that could ever happen to you, or they think they are not gay just because they aren't femmy. Is this some small town closeted thing? I'm from a large city but moved to a small college town. |
Dearie,
Everyone has their own time schedule regarding when they are ready to come out. Perhaps it doesn't match yours, but it's still completely their option.
I know of one young gentleman who declined to discuss his orientation when living in the football dorm, a tragic case of randomized room placement that made showering very entertaining. He feared reprisals from these "macho, straight" footballers.
Have a nice day! |
How do you bag college gay guys? Not just any gay guys, the masculine ones. They are harder to tell. |
| Why? Do you wanna ask them on a date? I know how you feel though. Masculine guys are so hot, right? |
Is it easier to find gay guys in college, compared with high school? Like everyone in my high school is straight and homophobic. I hope when I graduate and go to a uni, they will be more accepting there. I'm a junior and I still haven't got the courage to come out yet, just because I woudl probably lose all my friends. So dating for me is pretty much out of the question. |
College makes it easier. There are generally clubs for gay students. Also, there are smaller universities that usually at least have a gay/straight alliance.
So to answer your question...college does make it a bit easier. However, when you start college don't think you're going to find all the gay guys right away, or that you're going to get a boyfriend on your first day in college--it usually doesn't happen that way. Regardless, make sure to play it safe--in and out of the bedroom. College may allow you to be more open, but it's still a society that tends to not look highly towards homosexuality--and keep in mind many of the students are just within a few years of getting out of high school, so sometimes they're still not the most mature.
Have fun and go to a university if that's what you want/need. I encourage it, but just be sensible! Don't put all your hopes into the first day at college or even the first month! It does get better and easier for the GLBT students though. GOOD LUCK! |
Is Charlotte, NC a "good place" for masculine gay college guys? im going to UNC Charlote this year and im wondering if its a fun, "gay friendly" city. im straigh acting and plan on coming out soon and i want to be in a relationship with a guy but im only attracted to masculine guys. will i find that in Charlotte?
thanks! |
| In spite of the fact that it is part of the 'Bible belt,' I have found most of the places I have visited in NC to be pretty gay-friendly. That includes Charlotte, Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill, and Greensboro. I have had a great time all three places. |
Has anyone (guys) found any other gay guy in College, how hard is it? Im wondering if there will be any gay guys in college idk because well im used to seen in movies straight guys, also how is life for you in college as a gay or bi person, im going to college next year... so any comments? |
| Well it also depends on the college you go to. Of course if you go to a conservative college less gay people will be present. But I just started my 1st year of college and there are actually alot more gay people than i expected. look for lgbt based clubs and classes to meet people. college is definately better than high shcool as there are more open minded people. at least from what I have experienced so far. |
Is it me, or do most gay college guys have toned fit bodies? Also, they always seem to wear jeans that fit perfectly around their waist, and snug fitting shrits. |
| Yes, I figured that out too.. |
